NNA – Russian presidential candidate and current head of state Vladimir Putin today voted in the 2024 Russian presidential election via electronic voting, “Russia Today” reported.


Putin has used this method to vote on several occasions over the past few years, and he participated remotely on unified voting day in the fall (for the country's legislative elections).


It is noteworthy that online voting is used for the first time in presidential elections in Russia (it is available in a third of the country's regions).


The first polling stations opened yesterday at 23:00 Moscow time in Kamchatka and Chukotka. At nine o'clock this morning, polling stations opened in the western Russian region of Kaliningrad.


Nearly 2.6 million Russians voted early in the election. Voting for the Russian presidential election will continue on March 15, 16 and 17, the Russian Election Commission has announced.


President Vladimir Putin, independent candidate, Russian Liberal Democratic Party candidate Leonid Slutsky, Russian Communist Party candidate Nikolai Kharidonov, and New People's Party candidate Vladislav Davankov are competing in this election. .


According to data from the Russian Central Election Commission, turnout at 17:31 Moscow time on the first day of voting in Russia's presidential elections was 25.03%.
